It's just way more frustrating and pointless.

This isn't any different than those people running dungeons to get their tomes most efficiently. But there are people who will want to get an improved weapon faster (or "faster" in this case) and will devote all their time to this endeavour. I don't particularly care about grinding atma either (I'm not even close to needing to) because I stop doing something in the game when I get bored of it. Intention has little importance in the face of how the players will actually interact with a particular mechanic. It doesn't matter if SE did not intend something. The book stage of the quest line is perfect and exactly what I want out of a quest, multiple things to do at your own pace where you won't get bored of a single mechanic and you can actually see the end of the tunnel. The Fate system is an interesting mechanic and I think its a good one but there's so much Fate fatigue that people actively avoid the fate system now because it left such a bad taste in everyones mouth. I did the fate grind all weekend and finished my weapon to Atma stage but I don't plan on creating another for quite some time and if I do I will be farming the Atmas slowly or when they change the drop rate (probably in 2.25). I have no problem with a quest thats ment to be completed in a long period of time but low rng rates are not the solution. It also gives them some padding room for 2.25 in a couple months. This whole thing is just a way to pad the numbers on the Fate system and force people to use the mechanic. It would have been better if you got a slow increase to the drop rate of 0.1% for every Fate you complete, at least then people wouldn't have to spend 13 hours in North Shroud. I don't like anything with a super low drop rate that dynamic. I want to echo this as I was saying the same thing to my FC members this weekend. Sure, make it time-consuming, but the RNG nature on top is just too much for me. With content this boring I don't really feel excited when I finally get a crystal, just relieved that I can finally stop doing those particular FATEs and move on to some different ones.
Ffxiv isles of umbra access upgrade#
And this is just the first step on a long upgrade road, meaning that people feel pressured to do it now, and I want something to start sinking my mythology into rather than just throwing it away. I can't do it with my partner, because he got his drops and has moved on. Half the time is spent standing around or running somewhere, and the rest is mindless button-mashing. With the Atma grind, the content is very boring and not at all challenging. The content is more interesting, I'm doing it with others, and I actually like the lockout - I get to roll my dice once a week and either I'm lucky or I'm not. I think the problem is that when I'm running Coil, I'm hoping for the gear I want, but not exactly expecting it. Do something else and make farming FATES for atma a secondary goal. Tldr Atma and Animus weapons are not meant to be acquired quickly. There is plenty of world to see, quests to complete, and gear (just as good as atma/animus if not better) to grab. My point is, please don't let a quest, that is meant to be completed over a LONG period of time, be the sole source of entertainment in this game. If I'm wandering through a zone and a FATE pops up in my path I will stop and do it and I will even join the hoard of people and run from FATE to FATE for a while if I'm not doing something else.
Ffxiv isles of umbra access crack#
I enjoy taking a crack at coil so I can someday (hopefully soon) down turn 5 and get into the second coil. I enjoy switching to a low level job and making some progress on that. I like to stop by and check on the garden at our house. I like to help people in my LS and FC complete challenges they are doing. I like to do my daily roulette's every day. But I'm not actively grinding away Fates while ignoring the rest of the game. I don't have my atma weapon yet, I'm only 5/12. If you do want to gather your atmas try doing it 20 fates at a time then do something else. If you don't want to get your atma weapon go get some soldiery tomes from the new dungeons and pick up a Gerolt weapon, they have similar stats and can be upgraded to iLv 110. Enjoy the game, there is plenty of new content and new gear to grab. SE did not intend for people to grind this away in a day or even a week. This is a quest that is meant to take a long time.
